My friends and most of my instagram followers probably know that I’ve rediscovered my love for journaling recently, as influenced by my friend Kaila (Rainbowholic) (she even gave me a Hobonichi Techno as a gift! I’ll post something about my #hobonichichi experience here hopefully this month), and best-selling author/artist-friend >///< Abbey Sy (we attended her new book #ABCsofJournaling launch last September, will also blog about it soon haha I told you I have a lot of other past events I need to blog about :)))! Most of my co-teammates in Kawaii PH caught the journaling fever too, especially Ashley and my sister Kaye.
So when Moonleaf contacted us for a possible event collaboration, a journaling event was the first thing that came to our mind! We wanted a very chill event where people can just hang out, do some journaling, share stationery, and shop for stickers! We also wanted to give some stationery sellers and sticker artists an opportunity to market their stuff. Moonleaf has also just released their planner for 2017, so it was just fitting! :)
We had a meeting with Moonleaf’s marketing manager, Mike, on the 3rd of November, and we finalized our plans on the same day. We decided to conduct a small kawaii-themed journaling workshop side-by-side with a stationery mini-bazaar on the cafe’s al fresco area. We only had a week to prepare, which meant more or less 7 days to invite sellers, gather attendees, and get everything in order! ;A; *challenge accepted!* (????)
On the day before the event, we were almost done with all the preparations. We also had to prepare for Kawaii PH Store’s booth for the mini-bazaar, so we spent the last day of prep at the Kawaii PH Headquarters.
(Sleep over! ( ﾟ▽ﾟ)/)
We arrived at the venue at around 10am to start setting up the tables and chairs that we rented, and to put up decorations.
There were only 3 of us at that time, so while Kaye was busy inflating balloons inside the cafe, Francis and I cleared out the al fresco area (we even hauled a refrigerator…) to give way for the bazaar. It was quite a hot morning so we were semi-drenched in sweat lol setting up the tables and chairs. Bye make-up （ｉДｉ）
When Ashley arrived, Kaye and I switched places, she went outside to help Francis with setting up the Kawaii PH Store booth while I went inside with Ashley to decorate the workshop area.
Around lunchtime, the participants and sellers started to arrive. Kaye and Francis were in charge of the bazaar, while Ashley and I got ready for the workshop! ﾍ(=￣∇￣)ﾉ
💙💙💙💙 Part 1: K A W A I I J O U R N A L I N G W O R K S H O P 💙💙💙💙
The workshop started around past 1pm. After Ashley and I introduced ourselves and showed the attendees our own journals, we asked them to do the same! :) Here are some of the attendees showing us their journals (some of them had just started journaling!) :
After the introductions, it was time for Ashley’s talk~
Ashley talked about basic intro to journaling. She told the story of how she got into journaling in the first place! :)
She said she used to use her blog / social media accounts as a sort of “online journaling”, but recently got into physical journaling after she was influenced by Kaila! (*≧▽≦)
She also talked about how journaling changed her/her life for the good. Her talk was really motivating! :)
“Journaling is like a creative outlet.” Designing pages surely does bring out the artist in everyone!
After Ashley’s talk, we did two quick rounds of Bring Me (a party game haha)!
First, we asked them to bring us a… Totoro sticker! ﾍ(=￣∇￣)ﾉ
Thanks for sponsoring our first prize of the day, Rainbowholic Shop! ♥
For our second question, we asked them to bring us… a journal page written in pink ink! 💝
Before we went on with the workshop, we distributed their freebies, which are piles of kawaii stationery from my own beloved collection! (Yup I love collecting cute stationery since I was a kid!!) Most of them are even vintage and not being produced anymore, so please use them well, attendees~ ∠( ᐛ 」∠)＿ ♥
After distributing their free milk tea coupons too, it was time for my talk~ (゜▽゜;)
My talk was more on the details and creative side of journaling, sprinkled with stories and advice here and there ahaha
I talked about basic journaling materials and tips on using them! I’ll make a separate blog post about this~ ♥
My favorite line from my own talk (I have a favorite line from my own talk??) (๑꒪▿꒪)* :
” You might say, ‘Oh, I didn’t accomplish anything today’, or ‘What’s the point if I’m always just at home’, or ‘I had a boring day.’ You know what? Journal about the small things, the smallest, tiniest events in your day. Journal about how you felt when you woke up, how the flowers in the garden looked, how the frogs sang when it rained, how you played that silly game on your phone, how it felt to just lie there resting. It’s those little things we tend to forget. The things we forget are the things we tend to miss in life, so don’t let them go undocumented: cherish them too.”
Most people are obsessed about productivity, which is not a bad thing, but nothing’s wrong with an “unproductive” day. Don’t just look at the big picture~! (ノ*゜▽゜*)
Journaling made me notice the tiniest things in the day, and by that my days are instantly a bit better. ♥
I also shared with them where to get inspiration for designing pages: Japanese fashion magazines like Larme, and journaling books like the #ABCsofJournaling! :)
After my talk, we proceeded to the next activity: “Draw your own stickers”! ♥
We gave each of the attendees a sheet of matte sticker paper. I also let them use some of my own drawing materials!
Here are some photos of the attendees working on their own stickers:
Next activity was…. STICKER EXCHANGE! <3
It was super fun haha I got so many cute stickers from this activity!!
Next activity was to work on today’s journal page on their journal, while we took pictures of the other attendees for the same-day printing lol (print-while-u-wait)! Haha this is actually why I brought my printer! :D
While the others were busy working on their journal page, we took pictures of the rest batch by batch.
After distributing their printed photos, they continued to work on their journal pages! Here are some of their WIPs:
A quarter past 4pm, we concluded the workshop! (But as promised, the attendees could still continue working on their journals if they liked) ♥
°˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖° Thanks to everyone who attended the workshop!! Hope you had fun! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

While the Kawaii Journaling Workshop was being held inside the cafe, the Stationery Mini-Bazaar was also ongoing at the cafe’s al fresco area from 1pm to 7pm! :)
Just look at all the awesome things the booths were selling!!! I wish I had time to go around during the day~

Thanks to everyone who participated in our event, Kawaii Stationery Party! <3
Thanks to Moonleaf Tea Shop for collaborating with us! <3 And to Mike for accommodating our team. :)
Thanks to the bazaar sellers for your support and hard work, I know the selling area was so hot and I wish we could’ve done something about it (we wanted to rent industrial electric fans but we thought that such strong winds would blow away your paper/sticker products ;_;) But I hope you guys liked our event somehow / didn’t hate the experience that much ahahah and would consider participating in our future events again. <3 We promise to provide better selling conditions for you next time. ^_^
Thanks to the workshop attendees for spending a part of your day with us! (And for swapping stickers with us wheee) Hope you had fun! <3 Thanks also to everyone who gave me gifts (?!) ;A;
Thanks to our friends from the Kawaii PH community who came to the event just to see us and spend time with us. <3 It’s super heartwarming! ;_; Love you guys
Thanks to Francis and Kaye for ALL the hands-on help!! From inflating balloons to carrying tons of luggage lol, from setting up tables while drenched in sweat hahaha to carrying that refrigerator!!! (!!!!!!) :O Haha cheers to us, cuz we’re a f* tripod!! :))
And most of all thanks to Ashley who is as beautiful inside as she is outside ;_; <3 *hugs* We did our best!! <3 T_T
It seemed impossible to accomplish this event in that very little time, with a very small team, but we did our best. We’ll do better next time~ ♥
Cheers, Chichi ♥
